Galle lies in the south west of Sri Lanka. It has an iconic lighthouse, some kitsch homeware stores, Lucy Fort Restaurant (eat there), and stone sea walls, expanded by the Dutch, encircling car-free streets with architecture reflecting Portuguese, Dutch and British rule.
